FFH in Haiti and Maryland
First there is Rabih Chaer..... Sometimes when triathlon training gives you lemons, you make lemonade... Then you finish the race and share a classic post-race snap shot with your supportive and future IronWoman daughter! :) Yes, it's a job well done to #TTPC athlete and Flying Fish Head swimmer, Rabih Chaer, who finished the Ironman 70.3 Eagleman race last weekend in Cambridge, Maryland.
Coming into the weekend with a sore foot, he completed the 1.2 mile swim in 39:03 min. followed by a strong bike on a tough, windy and hot course in hr. He then gutted through a steamy, leg burning run-segment to finish in 6 hours! This race was another step toward Rabih's goal race of Ironman 140.6 Chattanooga in Tennessee at the end of Sept.
It's with warm hearts and amazing pride, we send our support to two of our Flying Fish Head members, Lindsay Wood and Jim Meyers, who are extending their influence to the country of Haiti.
As part of the Pittsburgh organization, WORK, formerly Team Tassy, Lindsay and her son Phineas, and Jim, his wife and two children, are helping WORK staff members with daily activities and pouring their love into the families of Menalas, the town WORK families live.
It's such an awesome thought that our swimmers are stretching their energy past the pool lanes and doing their part to help change the world, small steps at a time.
Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers for safe travels. We can't wait to hear the stories when they return.
Last, and certainly not least, on Sunday, June 9, Libby swam The Great Chesapeake Bay Swim -- just across the bay from Rabih! It was her second time on this 4.4 mile challenge, and despite the many extra yards added to compensate for a sideways tide, she is hoping that she might do it one more time and wondering if anyone else might be willing to join her. There is a way to avoid the lottery and get in directly by fundraising for the March of Dimes - the charity that benefits from the proceeds. Check out the article about the Great Chesapeake Bay swim
Cheers from the Flying Fish Heads! Awesome ... keep up the inspiring work ... and way to represent!
